Political Sensitivity Training
Understanding the political force field
As a council member, I experience daily the importance of effective collaboration between civil servants and elected representatives. When council members are well-informed and can ask civil servants questions, the quality of decision-making improves. And when civil servants understand the political landscape, they can better translate political ambitions into actionable policies.
Yet, civil servants on the one hand and aldermen and council members on the other don't always speak the same language—even though they all work for the common good. Through my training and mentorship, I help bring these worlds closer together at the local and provincial levels.
Moving with more confidence in a political environment
You work as a civil servant in a political and administrative environment, but how do you relate to your own organization, administrators, and elected representatives? In this training, we explore, among other things:
The differences in interests and considerations between civil servants and political actors
How to recognize politically sensitive topics
What information you can and cannot share with council members
What working in public administration means for how you express yourself on social media or in private circles
The training offers practical insights and tools to move with more confidence in a political environment.
